How WESB Go uses your location

WESB Go asks the browser for your position at two moments, both of which require the app to be open in front of you: when you record an attendance event, and when My Attendance loads if you have already granted this site permission — so it can tell you that you have arrived at the office.

A browser gives no location to a page that is closed or was never opened. WESB Go therefore cannot and does not read your position outside those moments.

Only the reading attached to a record you submit is kept. It is stored with that single event: latitude and longitude, the accuracy your device reported, the office it was matched against, and the distance between the two.

A position read purely to tell you that you have arrived is never written anywhere unless you go on to record an event.

Precise coordinates are removed from older records automatically. The event itself, its time and its verdict remain, so the attendance history stays complete.

No background or live tracking. No route or movement history. No records of where you are between attendance events, on a break, after check out, at the weekend, or on leave.

WESB Go holds no payroll, leave, claims or expense information, and no team, project or task data.

You can see all of your own records: every event of the current day, and the last thirty days in full.

Administrators can see attendance activity for the purpose of verifying it — the event, its time, the matched office, the distance and accuracy, the device type, and the verdict. They can export this and open a full audit detail for any single record.

An administrator can apply a correction, which requires a written reason and is appended to the record. The original event is never altered or deleted, so a correction can always be traced back.

The server decides. Your device reports a position and an accuracy figure; it never decides whether a record is valid.

Check in is accepted when you are inside an office radius, with your reported accuracy allowed as tolerance. Check out is not geofenced, though a position is still stored with it when one is available.

GPS is not fraud-proof and WESB Go does not claim otherwise. Records that look wrong — a simulated location, an impossible jump between two readings, an accuracy figure too poor to trust — are rejected or flagged for an administrator, with the reason recorded.

You can revoke location permission for this site in your browser at any time. Arrival detection then stops, and you record each event by hand.

Refusing location means a check in cannot be verified against an office, so it may be rejected. Speak to your administrator if you need to record attendance without it.
